Microphone Preamplifiers for Audio Applications

Microphone preamplifier ICs are an important part of designs where microphones are used and today more devices such as headsets, digital cameras, entertainment systems and two-way communications systems are using microphones. Microphone preamplifier ICs can be designed as high quality or low cost solutions depending on the target market and acceptable compromises. While some devices can be partnered with external gain controllers, some may feature automatic gain control (AGC) as part of the solution. The key specifications include gain and noise levels (EIN and THD+N).
