I controller digitali altamente integrati UCD3138x di Texas Instruments sono controller digitali di alimentazione che offrono livelli superiori di integrazione e prestazioni in una soluzione a singolo chip. UCD3138x offre 64 kB di memoria flash del programma in UCD3138A64 (128 kB in UCD3138128) e ulteriori opzioni per la comunicazione come SPI e una seconda porta I2Cort. La disponibilità della memoria flash del programma in più banchi da 32 kB consente ai progettisti di implementare immagini doppie del firmware (es. un'immagine principale e una di backup) nel dispositivo e offre la possibilità di esecuzione da uno qualsiasi dei banchi utilizzando gli algoritmi appropriati. In questo modo il processore ha anche la possibilità esclusiva di caricare un nuovo programma e successivamente eseguirlo senza interrompere la fornitura di potenza. Questa caratteristica consente all'utente finale di aggiungere nuove funzioni all'alimentatore sul campo eliminando i tempi di inattività necessari per caricare il nuovo programma.
