DFRobot TEL0095 iBeacon BLUETOOTH® 4.0 Module
DFRobot TEL0095 iBeacon Module BLUETOOTH® 4.0 technology enables smartphones, tablets, and other devices to perform actions when in close proximity to an iBeacon. iBeacon is similar to previously used geopush technology based on GPS, but with extended precision (a few centimeters) with a much-reduced impact on battery life.
One application for the iBeacon, is an indoor positioning system, which helps Smartphones determine approximate location or context. Other applications include mobile marketing, mobile payments through point-of-sale systems, and push messages. iBeacon only provides location-based services to push messages, not via a base station. Pushing messages involves users developing and installing an App, and running corresponding services in the background. The TEL0095 comes with a dedicated iOS App, LightBeacon, for configuring the individual module or by batch, and uses Apple standards to detect the iBeacon.
