L'MCU wireless Kinetis KW2x di Freescale espande l'apprezzata famiglia di MCU Kinetis basati sulla CPU primaria ARM Cortex-M4 CPU. Il Kinetis KW2x integra un ricetrasmettitore RF a 2,4 GHz leader di categoria, nucleo ARM Cortex-M4 e una robusta serie di funzionalità per una soluzione wireless IEEE 802.15.4 affidabile, sicura e a basso consumo energetico. Questi MCU wireless offrono fino a 512 KB di memoria flash, 64 KB di RAM e fino a 64 KB di FlexMemory. Il doppio supporto PAN consente al sistema di partecipare contemporaneamente a due reti ZigBee eliminando la necessità di molteplici radio. Stack di protocollo software, strumenti e IDE sono compatibili con gli MCU Kinetis. Il software del protocollo ZigBee è integrato in maniera trasparente negli strumenti di sviluppo software Kinetis per consentire di creare rapidamente sistemi embedded. Le applicazioni tipiche includono Home Area Network costituiti da contatori, gateway, display domestici ed elettrodomestici collegati, nonché applicazioni di domotica e controllo edifici con controllo dell'illuminazione, riscaldamento e aria condizionata (HVAC) e sicurezza.
