TDK Flex Crack Countermeasure MLCCs (Multilayer Ceramic Chip Capacitor) products feature redundancies in design in order to avoid short circuit failures and improve the reliability of equipment. TDK offers multiple types of MLCCs for flex crack countermeasures including soft termination, MEGACAP, serial design, and open mode, each offering a different model and design to mitigate cracking caused by depaneling of PCBs, screw fastening, or shock from a vibration or drop.

Open Mode

TDK Open Mode is a type of MLCC in which the gap between the terminal electrode and the internal electrode on the opposing terminal electrode side (called L-Gap) is longer than that of regular products. By making the overlapping portion of the opposing internal electrodes shorter, it is ensured that the opposing electrodes do not overlap at places where cracks may occur. Due to this, the risk of short-circuit can be reduced even if cracks should occur.

C Series Mid Voltage MLCCs

TDK C Series Mid Voltage MLCCs are commercial-grade capacitors with high voltage characteristics ranging from 100V to 630V. The capacitors offer multiple sheets of dielectric and conductive material that are layered alternatively. These C series MLCCs incorporate superior mechanical strength and reliability due to their monolithic structure. The multilayer ceramic capacitors feature C0G and CH types with excellent stable temperature and DC-bias characteristics. The TDK MLCCs are available in C1005, C1608, C2012, C3216, C3225, C4532, and C5750 types. Typical applications include wireless charging units, DC-DC converters, inverters, and resonant circuits of high voltage circuits.

C Series High Capacitance MLCCs

TDK C Series High Capacitance MLCCs feature precision technologies that enable the use of multiple thinner ceramic dielectric layers. Composed of only ceramics and metals, TDK C Series Capacitors offer dependable performance, exhibiting virtually no degradation even when subjected to temperature extremes. The monolithic structure ensures superior mechanical strength and reliability. These MLCCs are available in a range of capacitance values, numerous case sizes, and in temperature coefficients of X5R, X6S, X7R, X7S, X7T, X8R, Y5V, and C0G (NP0).
